For Spring 2017, Orlebar Brown have drawn inspiration from Picasso’s life in Cannes. The artist’s inimitable style, being on the beach surrounded by his friends, and his home in Villa La Californie all provided the foundation for the aesthetic of this collection.
The season’s colour palette embraces the washed-out tones of Picasso’s rose and blue periods. These include blue hues, pale reds and sharp yellows. The clarity of the colours provides a crisp, modern look.
New pieces include the blue parasol Bulldog shorts, Gilot – the new house print, the Sammy II Breton T-Shirt, the long-sleeved Shaw polo, the seersucker short in many new guises, the Charlton reversible jacket, the towelling stripe hoodie and the suit you can swim in.
Photographic Editions are updated with contemporary photos in bleached tones and abstracted locations. Working with photographers Kirsty Lee, Henry Lederer, Dennis Hallinan and a vintage postcard from John Hindes’ collection, the photographic editions capture the hazy romance of the summer season.
