Having previously collaborated with exciting labels such as James Long and Christopher Shannon, River Island has announced that Lou Dalton is the next influential designer to be showcased in its Design Forum collection for SS16.
The River Island x Design Forum collection combines modern sportswear with traditional construction in an effortless mix of fabrications. Brightly coloured panels add a sense of vibrancy amid the muted based colour tones of the collection. A sense of nostalgia is evoked by the slogan tee – Lou Dalton 73 is ferociously emblazoned across the front in a glossy print finish and adds a touch of youthful rebellion to the collection. This design reappears on the shopper, constructed completely from recycled fabric which is waterproof and tear-resistant, it flaunts the collections tough side with confidence. Outerwear and tailoring infuse the modern with tradition and are among the hero pieces within the collection, including a navy/blue mesh technical Mac with nylon sleeves and oversized zip-pockets.
“I’m a sucker for detail and finish and it was incredibly important that we tried to capture this throughout the capsule collection. Working with such a great company like River Island allowed us not to have to compromise, allowing us to deliver an end product that was a thoughtful eclectic range of clothing for that modern day fella” says Dalton.
The 13 piece collection will launch early January in selected UK stores and online, with prices from £20-£150.
